Eclipse, The Twilight Series
The vowels were too short, hair too long...

I am neither a pure cynic, glowering in the corner at all the “Twihard fans”, nor an obsessed, I-have-to-see-the-midnight-showing-or-I’ll die, fan. Perhaps my quality of taste as changed or there is an increase of cynicism on my part, but my thoughts after watching this 2 hour and 4 minute film seem (so far), in opposition to the box office profits.

I was extremely disappointed. I thought watching paint dry might've been more exciting.

I have read all of the books by Stephanie Meyer’s, pertaining to the Twilight series, I’ve seen all of the movies… twice. At least. But I found this movie quite unimpressive.

The movie begins with an important scene that was not in the book, but seemed created to help the anyone in the audience who never happened to keep their nose stuck to the pages of the book understand what was going on. Fine. It was a good beginning. But while the screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg completed the challenge of consolidating over 300 pages of information into a 2 hour film, the movie seemed filled to the brim with characters and storylines one trusts to eventually make sense. The actors somehow displayed accents they’d never used in the previous 2 movies; Jasper, one of the character vampires made a mockery of the Texas accent, and I’m not saying it just because I’m from Texas. His vowels were too short, his hair too long and looked greasy.
The wigs of every single one of the ladies looked exactly that; like wigs. This is supposed to be a HUGE production.
Hundreds of Millions of dollars were spent on actors salaries, the director, production crew, styling, and I can’t help but feel cheated by the result of this movie, and I know I won’t be alone in this.

A few scenes in and I became acutely aware of all of it’s miscalculations and inaccuracies, and I couldn’t find myself enjoying it after I noticed Alice’s wig was crooked 20 minutes into the movie and how black Rosalie’s eyebrows were in comparison to her blond wig.

I am glad I went, but I can’t help wondering where it took a left turn. And to quell any preemptive criticism that may be thrown in my direction like rotten tomatoes, I am aware that it's Eclipse and not the Godfather. I didn't expect an Oscar winner. But I didn't expect loose wigs either.
