Until recently, she's been the inevitable 'hot girl' in an active and busy television career. You've seen her in
The Practice,
Boston Legal, and
Surface. And she's had supporting roles in film like
Pride and Glory,
Over Her Dead Body,
What Happens in Vegas, and
It's Complicated.
Her name is Lake Bell, and since 2011 she's been anything but the standard issue 'hot girl.' For 2011 was the year Lake Bell went from hot to sizzling. Her medical sit-com, Children's Hospital, began its third season on television. She starred in No Strings Attached, as well as writing and directing the critically acclaimed film Worst Enemy. Last year was pretty good to Lake.
Right now, in 2012, Lake seems poised to jump from sizzling all the way to pyrotechnic – in a single bound, just like Superman. The thriller Black Rock, which stars Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell, and Katie Aselton, will hit the big screens this year. The plot of Black Rock goes like this: three friends reunite on an isolated island off the coast of Maine for a girls' weekend. Things go from bad to worse in a New York minute. A relaxing weekend getaway rapidly turns into 'we'll be lucky to get out of here alive.'
In addition, Lake is working on a feature film called In A World. She's directing and acting in the film, which is about the world of voice-over artists. Lake didn't want to reveal too much about the movie. "I'm not going to say who's in it yet, but it's ridiculous, like, the comedy elite. Let's just say I made some phone calls." She did, however, explain the movie's premise. "When I first came to Hollywood, I was sure I was going to be one of the world's greatest voice-over artists. I was really good at accents, so I figured I come out here and make a ton of money. I didn't realize how cutthroat it was." Lake has done a few voic

e-over parts, such as the witch in
Shrek 4. But at the present juncture, she's speeding down the super-highway of feature films and not looking back.
Lake hails from New York City, New York, where she was born on March 24, 1979. She's an Aries, which explains her passion to excel. Now, of course, she lives in Los Angeles. As if she wasn't busy enough with all her acting and directing gigs, Lake also writes, studies foreign languages, and spends time with her Bull Terrier, whose name is Margaret. Her favorite food is "anything with butter on it." A Guns n' Roses fan, Lake spilled the beans about her 30th birthday party. "I had a Guns n Roses-themed party. I dressed up like Stephanie Seymour in the 'November Rain' video, with short wedding dress and the garter belt. It was fantastic!"

Not only is Lake intelligent, imaginative and talented, she's also gorgeous. Standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, blessed by God with opulent natural resources in all the appropriate places – think Katie Perry amalgamated with
Megan Fox – she makes an impact wherever she goes. There's a notable field of suppressed energy when she enters the room. Every eye, male and female, focuses on her.
Lake Bell: girl, sport-model, brunette, intellectual. Someone to keep an eye on in 2012.
