A couple of weeks before the 2012 Presidential election, Mitt Romney expertly used misinformation, and a struggling economy to take a narrow lead in the most recent polls. A few toss-up states will determine our next President including, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa, New Hampshire, Colorado, Virginia and Ohio. I think President Obama has Colorado, New Hampshire and Iowa; but I believe Mitt Romney will most likely win North Carolina and Florida, leaving Ohio and Virginia to determine our next President.

I spend a lot of time in Ohio, where public workers are mostly Republicans, so I can't imagine Romney losing, but the most recent polls show Ohioans backing President Obama for a second term. Virginia on the other hand is too tough to call, I can't imagine Mitt Romney losing Virginia to the President, which means even if President Obama squeaks out Ohio, Mitt Romney would still have an electoral lead, but neither candidate will have the 270 electoral votes needed to become President. So what happens next?

Well the adorable framers of our Constitution never envisioned a government ruled by a corporate-oligarch, where all three branches of the government they created are neither independent nor representative of the people. Unfortunately, the 12th Amendment calls on the House of Representatives to cast one vote for their state, for one of the top three electoral leaders, for the President of the United States. The new magic number would be 26, and I think Romney would pull it out based on party affiliation within the outgoing House of Representatives, who would immediately be tasked with the vote.

Can you imagine the uproar? States with less than one million people will have an equal vote with states five to ten times more populated than them. It would be especially ironic if President Obama won the popular vote, the outgoing House of Representatives voted in Romney, and the outgoing Senate voted in Joe Biden as Vice President to quell the dissatisfied masses.

He couldn't care less about the nation's outcome
I never imagined I would see an election where the House of Representatives would choose our next President, a government for the government by the government, but yet I am not surprised in the least. Hopefully this will turn out to be an election for the ages, unfortunately the corporate-oligarch and their two candidates will be the winner, but the theater of it all shall be amusing, at least for the night.
