Melissa Celaya is the editor of "The Political Stray - Web Site for Political Independents".

Following her heart, which was always with animals, she spent fifteen years working as a nurse in a bay area animal shelter. Once she felt her heart and body couldn't take any more, she decided on a second career as a writer.

After returning to college and choosing fiction as her writing mainstay, anger over the Terri Schiavo case shocked her into non-fiction writing about events that could have a significant effect on the average American.

Hours of poring over documents in the Library of Congress, watching the antics of politicians on CSPAN, reading the political blogs and watching cable news eventually led to her becoming a political independent and starting a web site to share the information she found.

"I know my writing sounds a little angry sometimes, but the first commitment I made was to be honest with my readers. When you start checking out what's going on out there that hurts the average person, you DO get angry. That's honest.

I've never taken a dime to keep "The Stray" going, maybe that's not too smart, but it keeps my reputation for honesty spotless. It also gives me editorial freedom as sometimes my work crosses a line into being a "rant". My readers know what motivates my anger is reality and not the fact that I forgot to take my medication.

Americans can't make good decisions without good information. A large percentage of our media is sponsored by the corporate giants that steal from Americans every day. (How much did your last prescription cost?) All too often media 'research' consists of skimming their competitor's pages and the blogs. That's not news, that's an echo chamber."

Melissa resides in California with Lee, her significant other and several furry family members.
