When Amy was five years old, she made a decision that would inform the rest of her years… or, at least, her wardrobe: she was going to be Audrey Hepburn. Sadly, that never actually came to fruition –- after all, there’s only one Audrey.
Luckily, though, Amy had a solid Plan B right from the start: to be a writer. She amassed spelling bee and poetry contest trophies as a kid, later graduating from Florida State University with a degree in English and using her creative mojo to plan award-winning public service campaigns on everything from aging issues to sexual violence prevention. She's since worked as the editor-in-chief of two of the nation's largest senior publications, served as a regional Emmy judge and reported to the Florida Governor's Office during her time as a state agency communication director. She now serves as the Chief Word Officer of global research powerhouse The iNSiGHT Cooperative. She’s been behind the scenes at NASA, too, helping the space program field press calls in the days leading up to a historic shuttle launch.
Amy's writing has appeared on YourTango and Yahoo! Shine, as well as websites and blogs featured by news outlets like NBC's TODAY Show, Newsweek, Cosmo Radio and Shape Magazine. In 2010, she helped former NBC reporter Ellie Scarborough launch the innovative and much-publicized pinkkisses.com, for which she developed much of the content, provided creative direction, managed the blog and social media channels, and created the startup company's promotional materials during its infant stages. Together, the two contributed seasonal posts to The Huffington Post and other media outlets in the year following the site's launch.
These days, Amy is a freelance writer, covering subject matter ranging from culture, style and design to social issues and volunteerism. She lives, works and plays in the weird, wild heart of Austin, Texas.
