Claire McCurdy is currently News Editor at the Journal of Foreign Relations. She has come to writing full-time after years with New York educational and nonprofit organizations. She has recently published several articles on the humanitarian response to the March 2011 disasters at Fukushima Japan, and short stories about her time at the 2010 Venice Biennale for Architecture. She is working on a book of essays about her time in Nagasaki in the 70’s. One essay, converted into a standup monologue, has been performed at the M Bar in Hollywood CA and is available on YouTube. Several other articles have been published in on line journals: Anobium, BrickRhetoric; Caper Journal; CLAPH Magazine, Journal of Foreign Relations; Notes and Grace Notes; Polyphony, The Gotham Palate, The News Gallery, TimesSquare.com, Woman Around Town.com, and WierdYear.
A resident of New York, NY, Claire has a B.A. in English from Earlham College and an M.A. in History from New York University.
