Julia grew up in Modesto, California, but if you ask her where she's from she'll truthfully tell you she was born in San Francisco and leave it at that. She's called The Foggy City home for 7 years, meandering through urban living with too many credit cards, too few heavy sweaters to keep her warm, and a passion to shop, style, and write. She enjoys every waking minute of life, even those plagued by tumultuous MUNI rides and smelly panhandlers.
She lives and works in downtown San Francisco with her English Bulldog, Rufus, at her side. She's been known to shamelessly talk about him as if he were her own child, as well as advertise him as a neighborhood celebrity. Her love for wrinkled maws and furry hides surprisingly offers daily inspiration and a fervent determination to strive for authenticity.
After graduating from California State University, Chico, with a degree in Communication and Journalism, Julia has worked vigorously at chipping away towards her dream career in fashion and writing. Through large amounts of soul searching, cocktail swigging, and pouring over glossy pages of fashion magazines, she realized that glamour, style, and high-fashion were something she could never live without.
As life went on and hard work was devoted, lofty goals were turned in to reality; writing jobs that were once a pipe dream were coming to fruition. Today Julia contributes fashion content for SF Magazine, Novo, as well as for a multitude of blogs including shoe designer, Jessica Pritchett and start-up, Bride Bound. She’s a social networking junkie and self proclaimed foodie, having reviewed hundreds of restaurants on Yelp. You couldn’t pry her away from Facebook or Gmail for just about anything… except maybe Ben & Jerry’s, Chubby Hubby.
Julia does not consider herself religious but if she did she would practice worship for the fashion Gods, Betsey Johnson and Versace, who continue to provide her with perpetual creative vigor. When Julia is not maniacally clicking away at the keyboard you’ll find her spending time with her friends, family, and boyfriend, popping in to boutiques, restaurants and bars, hopping around her closet while experimenting with jeans spandex, and avidly reading, Fashion for Dummies.
