Growing up in the former Navy town of Alameda, California, I was inundated with history since an early age. I attended elementary through high school where it was evenly distributed from a racial standpoint. Because of all the different people I saw and talked to, I was in tune with the differences and tension between different races. I lived through two, arguably three, different cultures: my Chinese heritage, my American lifestyle, and my Asian-American background and at some times it was difficult but helped shape the views I have today.

I try to stay active in my daily life through biking and the occasionally friendly football game. Although born and raised only five minutes away from Oakland, I am a true San Francisco 49ers fan because you can’t beat Montana, Rice, and Walsh. For basketball, I have been a fan of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers since 1996, his first year in the league.

I write because I believe that the establishment press has recently failed to do its job and it is up to us, the online community, as the only people left to tell it like it is.
