A native New Yorker, Ashley grew up just outside of the fashion capital of the world with dreams of becoming rich and famous. While the fame (and the cash) have yet to come, she’s been pursuing a career in fashion since her early days at fashion school, where the brand of your jeans mattered more than the grade on your paper, naturally.
Determined to become a journalist, Ashley fought her way into the magazine world landing an internship in the beauty department at Lucky Magazine. Surrounded by more cosmetics than you can wave a mascara wand at, she instantly became obsessed with all things beauty. The internship quickly launched her into the beauty world, forever intertwined with fashion, and she soon found herself backstage at New York Fashion Week brushing elbows with fashion’s elite.
After a whirlwind of writing and editing gigs, backstage interviews and exploring every inch of Manhattan (and Brooklyn-which had became her home base), Ashley decided a change of scenery was in order and made the daunting 3,000-mile, cross-country move to San Francisco. And while the granola-hippie look was never her thing, she’s embracing a new casual-chic style, but isn’t giving up the heels and hot pink lipstick just yet.
When she’s not frivolously spending money on clothing or watching fashion documentaries that make her miss New York, you can find Ashley in the kitchen, cooking up a storm for whoever’s hungry, laughing uncontrollably with friends and debating on whether her impressive magazine collection is worth shipping across the country.
So if the fact that she’s been lunching with her fabulous fur-coat clad grandmother since she was in diapers isn’t an indication of her love of glamour and style, then maybe it’s the infamous tale that some of her first words were “Bloomingdales” and “American Express”. Eat your heart out Gossip Girls.
